Reports by officers

The Chairman reported on the status of the Pit Vehicle registration program started on this date. The program is off to a good start.

Unfinished Business

none

New business

1) Rider Avo Laido petitioned the Committee to move down from Vet A to Vet B. His petition was read . The Chairman reported on the rider’s previous scores, as provided by Dan.

A motion was made to accept the petition. Motion seconded . Petition-passed. The rider can immediately drop to Vet B.

2) Rider Mark Rhoades petitioned the Committee to move down from Master A to Master B. His petition was read. A motion was made to accept the petition. The motion was seconded (The Chairman abstained ,as he knows Mark personally) .Motion passed. The rider can immediately drop to Master B.

3) The subject of FTR’s new sound regulations was brought up. All race vehicles are required to not exceed 96db in Hare Scrambles. The methods to be used by the Hare Scrambles Series to enforce them were discussed. Jon Royal gave his views as Referee on this subject ,and was has been done to date..

We now have the equipment in place. We need to insure that all 4 Series are testing uniformly, and Jon pointed out that we must have adequate people to carry the program out properly. Amanda provided to Jon a log sheet to record sound test data. This will be very useful, as adequate data keeping will be important in order to perform sound testing accurately and fairly.

4) Larry Kuhn presented a proposal clarifying and updating Rulebook Chap, 3, I,2 . “It is the rider’s responsibility to stop at all check points so that the checkers can properly mark their scorecard”. The proposal is to change that to “It is the rider’s responsibility to stop at any checkpoints established by the promoting club and to confirm that they are scored appropriately”.

The purpose of the proposal is to address that we no longer use scorecards in HS. Also, to address the responsibility for riders to be sure their transponders are functional and that the backup scorers can read their numbers.

The Committee determined that as a General Rule change, this should be forwarded to the Board Of Directors

5) Larry Kuhn also submitted an extensive proposal that would remove all mention of quad rules from the Hare Scrambles Rules. This would remove quads from the Hare Scrambles Series, effective the start of next season.

The motion was extensively discussed. The Chairman reported that the Executive Committee , when the Quad Series was proposed, envisioned evaluating quads continued presence in the Hare Scrambles Series only after the Quad Scrambles Series was fully functional and self-sustaining.

The consensus was that though the future of quads in the HS Series will be debated at some point, this proposal , at this time, is not what the Committee wants to do.

The motion was seconded . The motion was defeated.

6) Sam Mento presented a proposal that would effect Rulebook Chapter VI, C, 2. . That section states, in part “Race 5...Row 3 SuperVintage B , Row 4 Junior B “ The proposal is to change this to Row 3 Junior B, Row 4 SuperVintage B”. This was brought up as a safety issue, as the Junior B times are significantly faster then the Super Vintage B. The race time for that day’s race was presented as an example.

The motion was seconded and passed. The proposal will be forwarded to the Magazine for Member consideration.

A motion to adjourn was made and seconded - For-unanimous.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 pm.
