MX Committee Meeting Minutes

July 29, 2008

The MX committee met via telephone conference on July 29, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Present were Chair Kevin Carr, Don Redfern, John Collins, Ken Doeg and Sandy Moss.

Kevin brought to the attention of the committee an incident that happened at the Lakeland Race in May. Ken Rusak was injured during the first moto, he allowed a non-member of FTR to ride his bike in the second moto. This rider deliberately impeded other riders causing an accident resulting in injuries. There was a discussion concerning the responsibility of the parents and taking into consideration the other rider in the family who is younger. Based on the discussion, Kevin made a proposal that Ken Rusak be suspended from FTR for a period of one year, which would mean that he would NOT be allowed to attend any FTR event. Mrs. Rusak would be advised that her family is on probation and that any infractions could result in the remaining family members also being suspended. John Collins second, motion passed unanimously.

Kevin advised that he had received a petition from Chip Brock to ride down to the 35 No Jump class. Request passed unanimously.

Kevin advised that there had been some members that had complaints regarding the double points rule. A discussion followed where several other options were discussed. All felt that the rule was necessary in order to insure continued ridership which insures that the races on the back half of the season are properly staffed with safety personnel. It was agreed that the original wording of the rule needed clarification. Currently the rule reads “The MX Chairman will make this call the day of event.” Therefore, a new proposal was made by Kevin to amend the current rule to read. “At the discretion of the MX committee the double point event may be randomly selected at the end of the season by drawing, or by announcing at the actual event or by whatever means the committee deems.” Motion passed unanimously.

Meeting adjourned at 7:46pm.
