Executive Committee Meeting Minutes

April 25, 2009

A meeting of the Florida Trail Riders Executive committee was called to order at 5:30 p.m. on April 25, 2009 at the Daytona Dirt Riders Hare Scramble. The president determined a quorum was present.

New Business:

A discussion was held about the current rules being used for the moderation of the forum. The current rules were reviewed. The profanity rule is currently enforced by the software. The software is programmed to change profanity to gibberish. However, certain words and phrases can make it past this safeguard. Currently, the moderators will delete the word or change it to something similar. In order to keep the intent of the poster and remain consistent, the moderators will simply change the word to gibberish. Also, there is a rule that no advertising is allowed. The moderators have currently been deleting posts where this rule has been abused. However, certain forum members have pointed out that there are posts that are not deleted that also promote advertising by using links (i.e. the photographers). In an effort to remain consistent and ensure no bias, no links to any business site will be allowed. This includes all posts and signatures.

Daniel White requested that the committee review the decision of Joe Steidl and George Pollard regarding the promotion of a rider for next season. Allen Pearce advised Daniel that he would need to petition the Hare Scramble committee to overturn the decision. Daniel could bring the situation back to us after the Hare Scramble Committee if he still felt the decision was not satisfactory.

Kevin Carr advised the committee about an incident at the Bartow Motocross. Information from Carol Preston and Ken Doeg, both MX officials, was presented. Kevin Carr presented the disciplinary action that the MX committee would like to pursue. The rider, Nick Manfull, will be sent a letter outlining the terms of his suspension and probation. The letter will also give a time and place for Nick to appeal this decision to the committee. Allen Pearce made a motion that Nick Manfull will be expelled from FTR if he does not comply with the terms of his suspension and probation. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Allen Pearce made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
