USFS Volunteer Ranger Update | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A very special Thank You to the
following 31 Volunteer Rangers. These men and women have all attended a special orientation class with the USDA Forest Service and are committed to working with the Forest Service to help educate the many "uneducated" forest users. These Volunteer Rangers are out every Saturday and Sunday and an occasional weekday patrolling the south areas of the Ocala National Forest passing out USFS OHV brochures, as well as the new Florida Four Wheel Drive Association's OHV brochures, to the forest users. This has been going on for about two months now and we are seeing a slight reduction in prairie and wetland abuse by ATV, motorcycle and four wheel drive users. We need to continue to increase our presence in these areas in order to get the word out to all the forest users. Only thru education will we be able to reduce and eventually end the ecologically damaging motorized travel in the wetland areas. I encourage everyone to talk to one of the Volunteer Rangers and ask what they know about the latest forest rules and information. It may surprise you. Thank you again !!!
