Bithlo Motocross                            December 2000
For anyone who did not come to the round 4 motocross race at Motocross World in Orlando, you missed the best day of motocross racing to date in the FTR series for this year.  240 riders enjoyed a perfectly prepped track, great weather, and large gates for all of the races.
Lou Banka has changed the old Bithlo into a work of art for motocross.  Every jump is geared towards real motocross, not supercross and that makes the racing fun for everyone and not just a few.  I think the kind of turn out at these kind of tracks is an indication of what the majority of FTR riders want.
Also in attendance at Motocross World was Mike Floyd, the publisher of FLMX magazine, and long time family friend.  Mike covered the races and took pictures for the magazine.   He will be covering us a lot in the future, including harescrambles.  Along with the group from FLMX was Mike Amedeo, a local racer who lays claim to a Gold Cup championship, a Winter Am championship, a house full of mx trophies, and a national number in the GNCC series, as well as many FTR "A" class harescramble trophies.   Who knows, maybe we can get him back on a bike again, he kept asking me what size my knee brace was.  Ronnie Renner was also seen wandering the pits.  Ronnie is very fast local guy and pro motocrosser/extreme jumper.
As for the racing, it was hot.  Good old fashion motocross, you know a little bar banging, and roost throwing.  The track got rough and everyone seem to go faster.   A lot of harescramble racers were racing and it was great watching how fast they could go through the rough, nasty, awful, rotten, did I mention rough, sand section in the back.
Well to close, no serious injuries, and great racing.  FTR motocross is getting better and better because of you the FTR members, and the dedicated MX committee.   Without their help I can't function and without your help we don't function.   I hope to see all of you at the next race in Okeechobee on 12-17-00.
Thanks for your time and remember, RACE MOTOCROSS.
