That's Hot

With the cancellation of Racey Gator H.S. due to rain, State Line became the first harescrambles of the 2001-2002 season. Despite a tropical storm covering most of central and south Florida, the FTR traveled up to Madison County to race under beautiful sunny skies. The track was a tight 12.5 miles with fire roads that by 3 o'clock were whoops that you could triple.

Class promotions took effect the first race and new classes usually lead to a better chase. Garrett Edmisten was the one BEING chased as he took his second high point in his first ride in the AA class. Behind him rounding out the top 3 were the familiar faces of #186 Bobby Moriarty and #14 Joey Argentine.

A new season and also a new class, Matt Lyons # 13 took the win in the thumper A class by a quick 20 seconds to Scott Sears # 105. The track being so tight called for a lot of battles between racers but it wasn't over 'til you crossed that line.

Also promoted, Ricky Skaggs # 41 smoked 'em in the A200 class and beat second place #844 Ian Sherwood in just under a minute. It's a good thing you guys got promoted, right.

Former Junior rider, Justin Gardner # 367 walked (rode) away with the win in his first race in B250 leaving 2nd place a long 3 minutes away. I guess someone has been practicing...

6 ladies came out for the first race of the Quad Women class Saturday. With blue backgrounds and long ponytails, these ladies showed you guys what's up lettin' you know it's not just a male dominated sport anymore fellaz....Jackie Gaines took the win on her # 111 quad by about 3 minutes to #85 Pam McAfee.

All by his lonesome, Junior A rider David Tripp #40 won his class and maybe because of the fact that he was the only one in it. Com'mon Junior B riders, as long as you finish you get a trophy.

That's Not

There's always EMT's on site for the racers safety, and they did quite a lot of running around as there were a few broken bones (perhaps due to a summer of the bikes sitting in the garage?) I hope you guys are ok and come back quick.

The events of September 11th being a few days before, the FTR felt the impact and the Prez said a few words at the riders meeting Sunday to remind us how lucky we are to be Americans. All of us raced with the loss of loved ones in the back of our minds, and the thankfulness that we are indeed able to continue doing the thing we love to do. God Bless.
