EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

BENEFIT HARE SCRAMBLE

10-12-02

Meeting called to order at 7 pm. by Pres. Enyart.

All seven members present.

Enduro Chairman, Lee Daley requested the following nominees be accepted as his Enduro Committee:

A Rep. Ian Sherwood

B Rep. Peter Magee

C Rep. Chris Hill

Spec. Rep. George Tolson

Women Rep. Debbie Broderick

Lee assured the Committee all candidates are capable and familiar with the duties expected, and all are viable representatives of their respective classes.

Committee voted …7 Yes…0 No. Appointments ratified.

MX Chairman Jim Mamula will be seeking a Quad Rep. and a Women Rep. to become part of the program for next season. Candidates, see Jim!.

Hare Scramble Chairman, Randy Faul complimented those involved in the set up, registration, and scoring of the Saturday races.

Randy also noted some recent changes on the current HS Committee, with Jonny Simpkins representing Specialty Class, Vickie Wilcox as Women Class Rep., and Scott Sears will Rep. the "A" Class. Randy’s still looking for a ‘B’ Rep.

Jim Wilder, presented an informative update on progress with the new Electronic Scoring project. Saturdays test run provided positive feedback and assured us they are on the right track to giving the FTR its’ own unique system. One comment of note was the absolute continuation of our numbers and colored backgrounds. Even though the system does not need them for recognition purposes, it was agreed that the riders and spectators do.

Karen Jernbergs recent promotion will only take her away from the physical race scoring at the tracks. Karen will continue to function as the official Scorekeeper for FTR- H.S.

It was noted that any Club not being able to utilize the Electronic Scoring should request a refund of the $ 500 portion of their Sanction Fee. Some Clubs will be affected by this until the new system is up and running.

The Annual Banquet was discussed at length with all those present voicing a variety of ideas. Dan and Bonnie George have decided not to continue their involvement in the preparations, and after much discussion Cheryl Horn volunteered to head up a Committee to develop a plan for this years event. Cheryl will post an announcement seeking knowledgeable members to become involved with her.

Lee Daley noted that he would like to see a return to prior FTR times when the Clubs set up the Banquet and it was family oriented with sit down meals. Lee volunteered the Apollo Club for this year, and will work with Cheryl.

It was noted the Business Manager will lose a portion of his duties due to this restructuring of responsibilities. It was decided the Executive Committee needs to re-evaluate his position and decide on the required duties and compensation package.

Jim Mamula proposed Dan "write a proposal of the duties required to perform as Business Manager in a format that could be considered as a contract." It was noted that the current contract had expired. Dan will do this within 60 days and submit it to the Executive Committee. Jenni Lamb seconded this proposal. Vote of 7 Yes and 0 No.

Lee Daley proposed a program to add an Overall Enduro/Hare Scramble Champion to our FTR program of events. This idea was accepted as a good way to increase rider numbers in both types of events. Lee outlined it as follows:

Three enduros and three hare scrambles will count towards this championship.

In each of these six races, the top 30 overall riders will be scored and awarded points on a descending scale starting with 30 points for first overall down to one point for the 30th overall position. The lowest score for each rider will be dropped when tallying the final points.

Due to several considerations, the races included in this championship will be:

Enduros:

#4 Seville

#6 Richloam

#7 Daytona

Hare Scrambles:

#8 Suncoast - Palatka

#9 TCTR - Vero

#10 Apollo - Scottsmoor

With the cooperation of the two series' scorekeepers, I will keep track of the points. There will be one overall trophy awarded at the 2002-03 awards banquet.

Lee will fine tune this idea as it progresses. Hopefully this will instill some interest in members trying a style of competition they may not have tried in the past.

Secretary, John Schnelbach, tired of "political correctness", advised all that the Sierra Club and two other anti-OHV radical environmental groups were supporting Bill McBride as their candidate for Governor in the Nov. 5, Election.

President Enyart concluded the Meeting at 9pm.
