Motocross Committee Meeting Minutes |
| The Motocross Committee meeting was called to order at the Grenelefe
Resort Saturday morning, August 5, 2000. Present were: B Rider Rep Michael Mamula C Rider Rep Bob Riedel Senior Rep Robert White MX Scorekeeper Buddy Martin MX Referee and acting chairman Jim Mamula (Mark Palmer was in the hospital) Five members present thus established a quorum. We began by welcoming our new incoming MX Chairman, John North. The reason for this meeting was to vote for the second time on proposals which were passed at the previous meeting, then to submit the approved changes to the Board of Directors for approval. Proposal #1) Add a Super Mini class to the schedule. To read, "Super Mini class limited to 80 to 105cc including Big Wheels. Maximum age to enter 15 years old." Passed 5-0. Proposal #2) Add a Peewee class for 4-6 year olds, shaft drive/oil injected. This would serve as a type of Beginner class rule to read, "Peewee 4-6 year old stock class/oil injected bikes." Passed 5-0 Proposal #3) Drop Women's A & B classes and have a class to read, "Women's class." Passed 5-0 Proposal #4) To create and add a +30C class open to 125cc-Open. The hope is to attract more riders to try MX from the Hare Scrambles and Enduro rosters. Rule to read,"+30C Class. Age open to 30 years old and above and 125cc to Open cc. Riders in this class would not be eligible to ride our regular +30 & up age classes. This is an entry level age group class" Passes 5-0 Proposal #5) Delete AA class altogether. Current AA riders would then move to "A" Classes. Passed 5-0 Proposal #6) Impose a "Drop Back Rule" allowing Hare Scrambles and Enduro riders to step down a class when they come to race MX. Example: A "B" Hare Scrambles or Enduro rider could enter a "C" MX Class, an "A" Hare Scrambles or Enduro rider could ride a "B" MX class. However, a "C" Hare Scrambles or Enduro rider could not enter the Beginner class. Rule to read, "Current Hare Scrambles and Enduro riders entering the MX series may step back below your current Hare Scrambles or Enduro designation by one class, i.e. A to B, B to C. Riders may not drop from C class to Beginner classes. Passed 5-0 The meeting was then closed and the proposals were presented to the Executive Committee. The Executive committee passed all 6 proposal to go into effect in this 2000-2001 MX Season. A brief discussion followed regarding the schedule. MX currently has September 3rd at Bithlo, November 12th at Motocross of Marion County with a school on Saturday, November 11th at Marion County, December 3rd at Bithlo. Seven more events will be added soon so please monitor the FTR Hotline, Web Site and magazine for additional race dates and locations. The main theme of the MX series is, first and foremost, to have FUN so we urge all who haven't ridden an MX to come out and give it a try. We will find a class that you will feel comfortable in an enjoy. So come on out and have some fun! Respectfully submitted Jim Mamula MX Referee PS Our new chairman, John North, will be a great benefit to the FTR MX series. He comes to us bringing extensive experience in MX promotion and we are looking forward to many good things to come as we grow with FUN! |
