The Prez Sez                             November 2000
As president of FTR, I am very thankful for the honor that you, the members
of FTR have bestowed on me. As it is for all of you, motorcycling is very
important to me.

In 1983 after nearly losing my right leg in a street bike accident, I
came to the conclusion that it was time for Terry Enyart to stop riding on
the street and find a safer place to pursue his love for riding motorcycles.
I know everyone has heard all about the old timers that stripped the
heavy chrome fenders and headlights off of their Triumphs , BSA , and
Nortons , put on some knobbies and headed for the woods . Now , I'm
not saying I could be one of those OLD guys . But , after starting in 1963
and riding a few different types of motorcycles , I can remember being on
the gas on my own knobbed 650 Triumph , and being passed like I
was sitting still , by something that sounded like ying, ying, ying, ying, ying !!
I can't really remember what year that was but I think it was around 1968.
It turned out to be one of the first 2-Stroke DT-1 Yamahas
shipped in from Japan - the 2-STROKE evolution had begun.

Motocross Madness was just starting to catch on all around the World .
It was poor timing for the Big Man , for he had just signed to play Professional
Baseball in 1969 and missed out on the Heyday of the Motocross . It wasn't
until twelve years later after a fun filled Pro Baseball Career that he was
able get back to another love of his life . " MOTORCYCLES " After the
street bike crash and laying on the couch for 10 months healing up , the Big
Man decided it was time to head to the woods , where the only thing that
might pull out in front of him was another motorcycle !

In 1983 after being introduced to the FLORIDA TRAIL RIDERS By
Jack Terrell , Frank Truluck , Robby Poschell , Matt Smith , and Dennis Seburn,
the Love for the FTR and what it stands for began to grow . Over the years
always working hard for the FTR , from cutting trails to laying out trails , to
sign-up tables and scoring chicanes , putting on events , Club President ,
FTR Referee , FTR Vice President , and the last two years as FTR President,
what a thrill . As President I've worked hard, with others that share my
passion for FTR , working hand in hand with the Motocross , Enduro , and Hare Scrambles Committee Chairmen to insure good quality leadership.

Helping to guide FTR forward, preserving good wholesome Family Motorcycle Fun
has been a privilege and an honor bestowed on me by YOU the FTR Membership .
I've seen your children grow from the Pee Wee Classes , up to the Junior
Classes . My own three children have spent hours of their time working ,
helping , and growing up within the very best Family Motorcycle Organization that
there is in the United States !!

I've always kept the best interest of the FTR at heart and would appreciate your
vote in the upcoming Election !!  AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR YOUR TIME
Terry Enyart , ( Big Man )
