Being Responsible Motorcyclists is what being a member of the Florida Trail Riders all about !!   After the heated mishap at the CFTR Osteen property during the Saturday races , the Executive Committee has discussed and decided that now is the time for the FTR to do what will eventually will be decided for us on the National Level and State Level . SPARK ARRESTORS !!    Not very often do we see an Emergency Rule Change Implemented here in the organization . There is no doubt that the Hare Scrambles Competition Committee will concur that this Emergency Rule Change is needed and will go into effect next year . At the sanction meeting a straw vote of all the Club Reps. was taken on the spark arrestor question , it was the majority vote of the Club Reps that the new Emergency Rule should go into effect next year .    A Spark Arrestor that is stamped ( or states ) "US FORESTRY APPROVED"  will be MANDATORY For all Hare Scramble Participants !! There are several makes and models of spark arrestors .  I prefer the FMF Turbine Core spark arrestor . It is a light complete repackable unit , but there are several on the market to choose from . I have talked to Danny the owner of On Any Sunday Powersports , the Motorcycle shop at the front gate of the Croom Riding Area . He has put together a deal with White Bros , FMF and Pro Circuit to have a nice selection of spark arrestors set up on display at the Banquet .  The Spark Arrestor of your choice can be picked out , ordered and paid for with your credit card and shipped directly to your home .  Danny , Kryss and Michelle of On Any Sunday Power Sports have been at the Awards Banquet the last two years and are looking foward to seeing us at this years banquet , they are also eager to help our FTR Members in supplying us with any of our Motorcycle needs .  Give them a call , good family people with good family prices !!   I think the incident at the Osteen Race was a good lesson for all of us . Thru the quick actions of the Land Owner and many of our brave FTR members , a possible catastrophe was avoided . Just think !! What if !!!!  How fast could all of our FTR Families gotten packed up and evacuated that piece of H/S Property . Hey , we were being taken care of at Osteen . We may not be as lucky some another time and place . Let's get it all together before the 2002 Racing Season starts . Remember there will be Spark Arrestor checks at the starting line and there will be spot checks after the last lap at the scoring chicane . If you are caught at the starting line without a Spark Arrestor you will not be allowed to race , if you are caught at the end of the race without a spark arrestor , you will be DQd on the spot !!   NO QUESTIONS ASKED !!
