Cross the American Landscape and Join us in Florida!

Dear Trails Enthusiast,

Don’t miss the largest trails partnership event of 2002! American Trails and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Greenways & Trails are proud to host the 16th National Trails Symposium in Orlando, Florida, November 10 through 13, 2002.

Visit the American Trails website for all the details about the Symposium: www.AmericanTrails.org

Theme ~ The theme for the Symposium is “Greenways and Trails ~ Crossing the American Landscape." Many of the educational sessions support the theme through models of making large scale connections across the landscape happen successfully. A given greenway or trail, for example, might provide the opportunity for an individual to cross political and physical geographic boundaries, and experience various human and natural landscapes. The planning, development and management of that same project might necessitate that diverse groups come together in partnership, crossing cultural, social and economic boundaries. “Crossing the American Landscape" merges these ideas to promote thinking beyond boundaries and on a broad scale. This is the essence of the theme and the intended focus of sessions at this year's Symposium.

Why Florida? A variety of field trips will get you outside to experience the beauty and diversity of Central Florida - an eco-tourism paradise. Celebrate the successes of Florida’s greenways and trails community. Experience unparalleled regional hospitality and networking opportunities. You can also learn more about Florida by visiting the Office of Greenways & Trails website: www.floridagreenwaysandtrails.com
