Question O' experienced quad racers.
What minimum accessories would you suggest to someone wanting to race quads for the first time other than a teather switch and nerf bars? Im looking for bare minimums here. It is based on a stock 86 TRX250R.. If these two items will get me by for now, please just say so.
Looking to try some quad racing and have a good line on one.. Your help/advice would be greatly honored...

Scott,
The answer is yes, you can get by with just those things, but for me, bark busters are a must!! Stock tires are also one of the first things to go on my Quad, stockers tend to "roll" when you corner. Hope you have a good time!!
Amanda.

Scott,
I have noticed you have been trying to get a quad to race for some time. Welcome. If you are running a 250r, gather up all of the spare parts you can find. My opinion is, they are that by which all sport quads are compared to. They are awesome. I have yet to find anything better. I have a "couple" of them. Unfortunately, they are aged and like to be cared for more than a spoiled teenage princess. If you need some advice on them, look me up at the races and I would be glad to fill you in on them. I am not racing one at the moment, but my son is. Good luck and be safe.

Amanda,, thanks, yes the stock tires are a boot for new tread good idea and I forgot to mention the manicure savers as well.

Roy, thanks for the info also... If you are at Mayo Saturday, I will try and find you. I will be there Sat morning, probably working it as well. I race Vet A #310 CR250. Stop me and say hey if you see me.

You should probably trade me one of those 250Rs for my bike.

I have a good lead on a stock one (86) for 1800.00. It looks pretty well cared for. I know I have to buy a teather, nerfs for it. It does have holeshots on it, so tread is good. Oh yeh, the manicure guards too. Has a FMF piple.... Is that a good deal for a stock ride?

Scott,
If it is the 250r I am thinking about, it seems like a good deal. The guy seemed to do alot of work to it. I was even considering taking a look at it, just too far away for me. I'll keep an eye out for you. I'll be there Friday with a Black Chevy dually, Wanderer trailer, a white YFZ and a silver/red 250r, both with #97 plates.

Roy, sorry I didnt get to look you up at the race this weekend. Saturday found me out on the course working, and racing on Sunday. I was pretty sore after the race. Too many run ins with trees. I have never hit so many trees in one race!
The trail was tighter than some enduros I have ridden in the past. Wished we would have stuck to Saturdays trail with just a few changes instead of the major changes. I am still looking at this quad..... It is in Savannah Ga.. Is this the quad you think Im refering to? Guy named Percy is selling it.

You could also ask Chucky Piper Sr. about 250r. He is still racing them and a top competetor. I'm sure he could help you with any questions you have. #176AA
