next time you have the clutch cover off, take the stator cover off as well. Slide the balancer out and inspect where the bearings ride. the left side is the larger, wide bearing as that is the side with the weight. it can groove, but it takes a silly amount of hours to do. I think i bought a used balancer for my 04 at well over 800 hours.

was a good plan on replacing the impeller shaft. didn't see that earlier.
