Reports by officers

The Chairman reported that Jonny Simpkins is stepping down as A Rider Rep. Volunteers are asked to contact Joe Steidl., Chairman

The Chairman also reported to the Committee the status of sound checking for Hare Scrambles. HS now has it’s own sound equipment. The biggest factor slowing the initiation of testing has been lack of manpower . This is being addressed. George Pollard, who is very good with the equipment, has volunteered to man the test sites. Skippy Tack has also volunteered to test at HS’s north of Ocala. More volunteers are still needed. The basic plan for now is still to start by testing obviously loud bikes/quads and give one warning. From there, testing will continue to expand. The Hare Scrambles Officers are working with the EC to arrive at a target date for full HS compliance.

Unfinished Business

A proposal had been made, passed, and sent to the Magazine to change Chapter VI, C2
"Race 5...Row 3 Super Vintage B,
Row 4 Jr B"
to "Row 3 Jr B,
Row 4 SuperVintage B". This was proposed as a safety issue, as the Jr B race times are significantly faster. This was the required second vote.. Motion-passed, will go to BOD for final ratification

New Business

1) Rider Scott West has petitioned the Committee to move from Vet A to Vet B. His petition was read , and his scores for this season were examined.

The Committee voted to deny the petition.

2a) A proposal was made to change the point value and requirements for Worked Run credits. The purpose is to add incentive for people to work an event, for people to help with pre-race-weekend trail prep, and especially to work the Benefit HS(s).

P.20 Chapter VII b9 reads in part." Any FTR member who works ( can not ride the event) a FTR- sanctioned Hare Scramble will earn a work run credit equal to his highest score earned during the competition year. The work run credit will be used as one of the scores (70% of the events) countered for year-end score."

The proposal is to change this to 20 points per day worked up to a maximum of 3 days, and a maximum of 60 points per class. Another component of the proposal is to allow an second worked run credit per class if the credit is for working the FTR Benefit Hare Scramble. This additional WR credit will be calculated as above, but will have a maximum of 50 points per class(days 1and 2 worked= 20 points each, day 3= 10 points.)

The proposal passed, to be put in the magazine for member consideration.

2b) Another proposal was made on this same subject. It is structured as above , except the point values are day 1,2 worked=25 points each , and day 3=10, for a total of sixty points per class. .

The proposer feels this point structure is preferable to Proposal 2A.

This proposal also allows a second worked run credit for the Benefit Hare Scramble. It's point structure would be 25 points per day worked up to a total of 2 days=50 points per class.

Motion passed, to be put in the magazine for member consideration.

3a) A proposal was made to change p.8 Chapter III, c1Rider Classification and p.11 Chapter III, J6 Competition Apparel and equipment, that states in part "Jr A,B...86 to 125 cc"

The proposal changes this to " Jr A,B... 86-125 two stroke, 0-250 four stroke". The proposer suggests that 125 2 stroke availability will lessen as the four strokes keep gaining popularity, and that it would be unfair to restrict Juniors from racing 4 strokes. This would allow 250F's in the Junior A and B classes.

Motion-passed, to be put in the magazine for member consideration.

3b) Another proposal was made on this same subject. In this case, however, the 250F's would only be allowed in Jr A. The proposer feels the the rule would be more passable if the more powerful bikes are restricted to the higher skill Jr. A class.

Motion passed, to be put in the magazine for member consideration.

4) A proposal was made to omit p.22 Chapter VIII B,1 which states" It is the riders responsibility to keep track of their number of laps. It is not the responsibility of the promoter to tell them when they are finished." This is to "clean up" Rulebook wording as we no longer score by laps.

Motion passed, to be put in the magazine for member consideration.

5) A proposal was made to correct the wording of p.22, c 12 Vintage Technical Requirements , which reads in part "...numbers are difficult to read or are not properly displaced" . The proposal corrects this to displayed.

Motion passed, to be put in magazine for member consideration.

6) A proposal was made to change p.18 Chapter VI c2
From - Sunday Race 1,row 4 Senior B, Super Sr B,
row 5-Wn A
To- row 4 -Senior B,
row 5 -Super Sr B,Wn A

The purpose is to even out the number of riders per these rows.

Motion passed, to be put in the magazine for member consideration.

A motion to adjourn was seconded - For - unanimous.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 pm.
