That's a sweet looking 74 Jacob, I had a brand new one when they first came out, as well as a used 73 as my first bike.

Mark,

I had one of those for 3 weeks before it was stolen.... Man, that bike was a screamer, but didn't handle very well with that weight up high..

My second bike and first true dirt bike...

1977 YZ100...the peakiest bike ever made! It was like a light switch, off or on (blazing fast)..

Wife, Elesa Berard (Kirkland) on her first bike in 1983 at Lake Placid. Before this she learned to ride on a friend's (Michael Bryan) Hodaka 100. Taught by her mother Sherry. Elesa pictured here on her 83' YZ100. Greg Kvitkauskas (friend and best mechanic ever) doing some wrenching on Elesa's bike. Greg's KX500 and his brother Chris in the background.

My wife and my daughter had that same year and model bike and rode women's A.

Elesa use to ride with my daughter and somehow they would find a way to get in trouble. bg23 rof1 just kidding Elesa. We had a lot of fun with you and your family camping, racing and sitting around a campfire telling lies. Especially Doug Qualls and your dad trying to outdo each other in other aspects. And you know what I am talking about. rof1

Those were great days when everyone knew each other and racing was just for fun but still very competitive.

Great photo! I grew up in Lenox Mass. in the heart of Berkshire county. The ISDT rode through many miles of mountain trails that were our daily stomping ground. I had just sold my QA 50 and got the first XR 75 that North's Honda shop brought in. October Mountain was our favorite area, although we rode trails that brought us into Vermont, N.Y. and Conn. We (as kids) could leave early A.M. and not be back 'til after dark with no worries. Good times. Thanks for the post.

Yes sir, those were the days!! I know we have a group of awesome little ones running around and I can only hope we can offer our kids the same great memories that Mommy and Dickie and all of you guys offered to us! Tell Wendy and Annett Hello.

Dave - What a great story! Sounds like fun! Just so you know that was in Lake Placid FL..... LOL

First "real " bike was a 1971 DKW MX125 with that funky Earles front suspension...

kinda cool.. but good luck finding parts waaay back then (circa 1973)

next was a 1974 Cr 125 Elsinor .. was silver.. spray bombed it red.... like everything else in the 70's !

if memory serves me.. the pic was taken at Claverak around 1976-ish

and yes.... they had colors pics back then.... actually color slides.... that really show cased the obligatory peach fuzz wannabe porn star mustache....lol

and if you take a close look at the rear upper shock mount...you'll see my first attempt getting more shock travel by a stick welder application of redneck suspension geometry....
